Arbe’s L3 Breakthrough Puts High-Resolution Radar on the Fast Track to China’s Autonomous-Driving Boom

DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) -- Arbe Robotics (NASDAQ:ARBE) just moved a major step closer to the moment investors have been waiting for: high-volume automotive production.

Arbe and Hirain Technologies say they have been selected by one of the world’s largest automotive groups for a Level 3 automated-driving passenger-vehicle program spanning multiple brands in China, with Hirain scheduled to begin series-production radar deliveries in Q4 2027, ahead of vehicle SOP. Hirain will handle the complete radar system, including development, manufacturing, integration, validation and quality, while Arbe’s ultra-high-resolution radar chipset supplies the underlying sensing technology.

“This is a strategically important program for Hirain with one of the world's largest automotive groups,” said Hirain CTO Dr. Chengjian Fan. Arbe CEO Ram Machness called the win “a defining milestone in the commercialization of Arbe's technology.”

The timing could hardly be more consequential, as China is rapidly moving L3 autonomy from demonstration to regulated deployment. In December 2025, Chinese authorities granted the country's first road approvals for L3 passenger vehicles, involving Changan and BAIC's Arcfox. Then, in August 2026, China released a mandatory national safety standard covering L3 and L4 automated-driving systems, with implementation scheduled for July 1, 2027, just months before Hirain's planned radar deliveries begin. The standard requires lifecycle safety management, simulation, closed-course and road testing, and driver-readiness monitoring for L3 systems.

That creates a potentially powerful setup for Arbe: regulation is catching up just as its Tier-1 ecosystem is moving toward production and this isn't Arbe's first major Hirain milestone. Arbe reported in its 2026 filings that Hirain had a preliminary order involving 340,000 radar chipsets for Chinese customers, while the companies were progressing toward production on an existing L4 program.

In December 2025, Arbe also announced that a Chinese state-owned automaker had selected Hirain's Arbe-powered LRR610 radar for an L4 program, with vehicle production planned for December 2026.
