bioAffinity Gets Nasdaq Lifeline, Now the Lung-Cancer Story Takes Center Stage

DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) -- bioAffinity Technologies (NASDAQ:BIAF) removed one of the biggest overhangs facing its stock, announcing that Nasdaq confirmed the Company regained compliance with its listing requirements. The September 8 notice means BIAF’s common stock and warrants will continue trading on the Nasdaq Capital Market, while a previously scheduled Nasdaq Hearings Panel hearing has been canceled.

CEO Maria Zannes called the development an important milestone: “Maintaining our Nasdaq listing allows us to remain focused on expanding access to our noninvasive CyPath Lung test for lung cancer and continuing development of our broader pipeline of noninvasive healthcare solutions while building long-term value for shareholders.” The company specifically regained compliance with Nasdaq Listing Rule 5550(a)(2), the $1 minimum bid-price requirement, as well as Rule 5560(a), which covers applicable requirements for rights and warrants.

That removes a very different kind of risk from the investment story. Instead of the market focusing on whether BIAF could remain listed, attention can shift back toward CyPath Lung, the Company's noninvasive sputum-based lung-cancer test. CyPath Lung combines advanced flow cytometry, proprietary AI and a fluorescent porphyrin designed to identify cell populations associated with malignancy. In published clinical research involving high-risk patients with small indeterminate nodules under 20 millimeters, the test demonstrated 92% sensitivity, 87% specificity, 88% accuracy and a 99% negative predictive value.

The commercial angle is becoming increasingly interesting as well. CyPath Lung is already marketed as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) through Precision Pathology Laboratory Services, a bioAffinity subsidiary. Recent real-world case studies have highlighted situations in which CyPath Lung supported physicians in deciding whether to pursue invasive procedures or additional surveillance. In one case, the test helped support a decision to defer biopsy, with follow-up imaging subsequently showing resolution of the nodule.

The larger opportunity is straightforward: lung-cancer screening can identify suspicious nodules that are difficult to characterize, potentially creating a need for additional tools that help physicians determine which patients warrant more aggressive intervention. bioAffinity's data suggest CyPath Lung could play a role in that decision-making process, although the company explicitly states that the test is not intended to be used as a sole diagnostic tool and should be considered alongside other clinical findings.
