BTC Digital’s Georgia Gambit: From Bitcoin Mining to the AI Power Race

DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) -- BTC Digital (NASDAQ:BTCT) is betting that the real value of its Georgia buildout may extend well beyond Bitcoin.

BTC Digital says construction of its 10MW Georgia cryptocurrency computing facility is complete and that the site is approaching deployment readiness, with high-performance mining machines expected to be deployable within roughly two months. At full deployment, the company says the facility could support approximately 900,000 TH/s, or 900 PH/s, of theoretical computing capacity.

That is an eye-catching number, but the bigger story is what BTCT does with the power and infrastructure behind it.

The company has been pursuing a “dual-engine” strategy: keep cryptocurrency computing moving while transforming itself into an AI infrastructure provider. That pivot gained financial momentum in June, when BTCT announced a private placement that generated approximately $7 million in upfront proceeds, with potential aggregate proceeds of up to approximately $28 million, earmarked in part for an 8MW AI computing center in Georgia.

CEO Siguang Peng framed the strategy bluntly in June: “This financing will enable us to convert the scarce resources already in our hands, locked-in power and owned sites, into revenue-generating AI computing as quickly as possible.”

That makes today's mining announcement more consequential than a simple capacity expansion. BTCT is effectively using cryptocurrency infrastructure as an operating bridge into the much larger AI-compute opportunity. The company's own website now describes the Georgia campus as a foundation for AI training, inference, high-performance computing and cloud services, with 25MW of planned total site capacity.

But investors should separate infrastructure readiness from revenue readiness. BTCT's SEC filing previously cautioned that its AI initiative was still early-stage, with no binding customer agreements, committed financing or AI revenue at the time of filing. Meanwhile, Bitcoin mining remains brutally competitive: recent industry data put network hashrate around 900 EH/s, while hashprice has been pressured toward breakeven levels for some operators.
