CEO Clip - Selkirk Copper: Can the Minto Mine Restart Become Yukon’s Next Copper Producer?

Published Oct 21, 2026, 12:00 AM

Selkirk Copper is advancing the restart of Yukon’s Minto copper-gold-silver mine, supported by a Preliminary Economic Assessment outlining a 13-year mine life, strong project economics and significant production potential.

As global copper demand accelerates through AI data centers, electrification and power infrastructure, Selkirk Copper is working to bring the Minto copper-gold-silver mine in Yukon back into production. The company's recently completed >100,000m of drilling and Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) outlines a 13-year mine life, the longest projected operating life in the mine's history.

The PEA estimates a net present value (NPV) of approximately C$500 million, using assumptions of US$5 per pound copper, US$3,600 per ounce gold and US$50 per ounce silver. Under these assumptions, the project delivers an estimated 48% return on investment, with management highlighting its potential for rapid capital payback.

With an well-established road, camp, transmission lines, mill and mining infrastructure, an expanded mineral resource, encouraging preliminary economics and growing demand for critical metals, Selkirk Copper is focused on restarting Minto and positioning itself as Yukon's next producing base metals company.
