Newly identified porphyry copper-gold target combines strong surface exposure with stacked anomalies
What is Oreterra Metals drilling at Trek South?
Oreterra Metals is preparing the first-ever drill program at its 100%-owned Trek South porphyry copper-gold prospect in British Columbia’s Golden Triangle. The target has never been drilled and stands out for its strong surface exposure and overlapping alteration, geochemical, and geophysical anomalies.
In mineral exploration, a new target rarely arrives with this kind of setup.
Oreterra Metals is focused on discovery, and right now that focus is centered on Trek South, a porphyry copper-gold prospect in the heart of British Columbia’s Golden Triangle. According to the company, Trek South is effectively new to science and remains untested by drilling, with the first-ever program planned for the 2026 field season.
What makes the target stand out is not just location, though the Golden Triangle is one of Canada’s best-known mineral belts. It is the quality of the geological signals already identified at surface. Management points to strong outcrop exposure, which is unusual for porphyry copper-gold systems in British Columbia, where many targets are buried. The company also says the alteration, geochemical, and geophysical anomalies are stacked together, suggesting the target is well defined rather than broadly conceptual.
That distinction matters.
In early-stage exploration, investors often have to separate broad regional potential from specific, drill-ready targets. Trek South appears to fit more into the latter category. Oreterra describes it as a large-scale copper-gold porphyry prospect with multiple high-order anomalies aligned in the same area, and a recent NI 43-101 technical report recommended an initial phased drill campaign.
The company has also raised financing specifically to support that first drill program, underscoring Trek South as the immediate value driver.
