Copper Giant is advancing the Mocoa Copper-Molybdenum Project in Colombia, a near-surface deposit that has grown well past the billion-tonne mark: 1.6 billion tonnes of Inferred and 290 million tonnes of Indicated mineral resources, holding 9.36 billion and 2.13 billion pounds of copper. Contained copper is up 50% in a year, and the company is working toward its first Preliminary Economic Assessment.
As global copper demand grows alongside electrification, infrastructure development and emerging technologies, the need for large-scale copper resources is attracting increasing attention. Copper Giant is advancing one oft he few billion-tonne, near-surface copper-molybdenum deposits held by a junior exploration company.
Its flagship Mocoa Project in Colombia now holds 1.6 billion tonnes of Inferred and 290 million tonnes of Indicated mineral resources, 9.36 billion and 2.13 billion pounds of copper, with contained copper up 50% in a year. A deposit of that size, near surface, is rare in junior hands, and it is drawing attention as the industry looks for future copper supply.
Copper Giant currently has four drill rigs operating at Mocoa, with exploration focused on expanding and better defining the deposit ahead of a planned Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA).
Beyond Mocoa, Copper Giant controls approximately 130,000 hectares of exploration ground along Colombia's prospective Jurassic Copper Belt, providing additional opportunities to identify copper mineralization across a largely under explored region.
