Valor Energy Targets 18MW Ohio Power Asset in $3.6M Data Center Deal

DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) -- Valor Energy (NASDAQ:VAI) is making a calculated move into the AI infrastructure race, agreeing to acquire a Youngstown, Ohio, computing center with approximately 18 MVA of site-level power capacity for $3.6 million. The deal gives the Company a potential foothold in a sector where access to energized electricity has become a critical hurdle to expanding artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.

The 30,888-square-foot facility at 1911 Logan Avenue has an existing 23kV utility interconnection with Ohio Edison that the company believes is approved and energized. That infrastructure could give Valor a head start over developers starting from raw land.

“This agreement is an important step in Valor Energy’s AI data center strategy,” said Dave Nichols, a strategic advisor to the company. He added that the existing power capacity could reduce, but not eliminate, the time needed to pursue AI computing capacity at the site.

The move reflects a broader infrastructure challenge: AI expansion requires not just advanced chips and computing equipment, but also substantial electricity, suitable facilities and the capital to bring them online. Power-ready sites are increasingly valuable to developers seeking to build capacity, making existing utility infrastructure a potential strategic advantage.

For Valor, the transaction also represents a significant strategic pivot. Historically focused on automobile transactions and related services, the company is pursuing a transformation toward digital infrastructure, energy and other growth markets.
