XIAO-I May Have More Room to Run

AIXIA Has Doubled Since Our “Squeeze Could Be Brewing” Report

DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) — XIAO-I Corporation (NASDAQ:AIXI) has delivered the kind of move that puts stocks on traders’ radar, with shares doubling since 24/7 Market News highlighted a potential squeeze setup on October 2. The rally has brought renewed attention to the Chinese artificial intelligence company, but the forces behind the move deserve a closer look.

When we first examined XIAO-I, the story centered on a major change to its American depositary share (ADS) structure, volatile trading and the possibility that a limited supply of readily tradable shares could amplify buying pressure. On September 8, the company completed a change under which one ADS came to represent 420 ordinary shares, up from 60. Economically, that equated to a one-for-seven reverse ADS split for ADS holders, while the underlying ordinary shares remained unchanged.

There is also a financing complication. XIAO-I disclosed a $2.17 million convertible promissory note transaction in June, including 325,000 ADSs issued as pre-delivery shares. In August, the company disclosed another convertible note that could result in up to $4.33 million in ADSs being issued upon conversion. Depending on conversion terms and timing, additional shares could create dilution and introduce potential selling pressure.

Meanwhile, XIAO-I's intellectual-property dispute with Apple remains another potential catalyst, but also a source of uncertainty. Following unfavorable first-instance Chinese court rulings on infringement claims in June, the company said it intended to appeal to China's Supreme People's Court. XIAO-I has cautioned that there is no assurance of a favorable outcome or financial compensation.
